Shattered Dreams

....presented by Marley Sparkman and Kylie Watson

May 11, 2010

Quanah High School FCCLA STAR Event team members, Marley Sparkman and Kylie Watson are making preparations to present the “Shattered Dreams” program for their peers at Quanah High School and Junior High.  The program will be a daylong affair on Wednesday, May 19, 2010.  The “Shattered Dreams” program promotes responsible decision-making among students regarding driving.  Research shows that teenage drivers have too many accidents due to driving at night, distractions such as cell phones and texting, not wearing a seat belt, speeding and alcohol and drug use. Hopefully, this program will show students how irresponsible choices can end all dreams.  This timely event was planned to take place the same week as prom and the week prior to High School graduation.

Hardeman County EMS, Hardeman County Hospital, Quanah Fire Department, Hardeman County Sherriff’s Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, Hardeman County Judge, Hardeman County Justice of the Peace and Smith Funeral Home are working with the High School to carry off the program.  Through these collaborative efforts the FCCLA members and local agencies hope to help students better understand the importance of making good choices while driving.

A mock crash scene, followed by simulated emergency responses will take place on the day of the “Shattered Dreams” event.
