QISD GOES APPLES
September 01, 2009
QISD students were presented with MacBook laptops on August 31st after more than a year of planning and preparation. Superintendent Terry Allen and several dignitaries spoke to the students including Texas House Representative Rick Hardcastle, Apple Executives Tom Burnett and Maria Henderson, and Board President Randy Randolph during the rollout ceremony.
QISD is please to be able to provide all students in the 7th - 12th grade with a piece of technology so that our students can be 21st century learners. Three goals have been set by the district in rolling out the new technology. They are:
Provide a 21st Century learning
environment.
Engage the students in a positive and active environment.
Provide them equal opportunity when they reach higher education and
the job market.
All students also received a T-shirt courtesy of Principal Shawn Read. An iPod Shuffle and an iTunes gift card was awarded to a lucky student in each grade. One lucky student's name was drawn and received a wireless router.
