Governor Greg Abbott has issued an executive order requiring all school buildings in Texas to remain closed through May 4, 2020. Off-campus remote learning will continue through May 4, 2020. Students should continue to check in with their teachers via student email and Google Classroom. School officials will also be regularly making calls to check on students during this COVID-19 outbreak. The grab and go breakfast/lunch program continues Monday-Friday from 11:30a-12:30pm in the drive on the west side of Reagan Elementary. These free meals are available to all children age 18 and under.

Message from Superintendent Tom Johnson

QISD is following the CDC recommendations to keep our students and employees safe in this unprecedented environment of COVID-19.

Governor Greg Abbott has declared a public health disaster due to COVID-19 - the first of its kind in Texas since 1901.

All schools will be closed through April 3, 2020. The state will review reopening at that time depending on the state of the pandemic.

Grab and go meals will be provided free of charge for all QISD students 18 and under starting Tuesday, March 24, 2020 from Reagan Elementary Cafeteria, using the drive on the west end of the campus with breakfast available from 8:30-9:30 and lunch from 11:30-12:30. Additional information will be provided next week. UIL has also suspended all UIL academic and athletic activities, events and practices until May 4, 2020.

Our administration team will meet on Monday, March 23rd to finalize details for off-campus instruction for our students.

Further updates will be communicated via school messenger, Facebook page and district website: qisd.net

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to maintain a safe system for our students and our community.

Quanah ISD’s homepage has our districts COVID-19 plan posted. Also, TEA has set up a COVID-19 page with links to various resources and guidance for district and charters. The FAQs and guidance will be posted here as well. Please check these pages often for updates. Here are the two links for information regarding COVID-19:

Here are a few things we can all do to reduce the risk:

1. Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

2. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

3. Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

4. Stay home when you are sick.

5. Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
